• A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

    The Porter Academy was founded as a result of a long-standing dream of mine.  As a child I knew what it meant to be impoverished.  However, I was extremely fortunate to have parents who taught me what hard work and a willingness to learn and persevere can do for an individual.

    .

    I have seen continued devastation in many communities as a result of no leadership or guidance by parents due to a multidisciplinary array of reasons.  Having turned my life over to God, I have been committed to “paying it forward” and seeking a way in which we can aid others to be better versions of themselves in a productive and self-sustaining manner.

Mission Statement: 

To inspire others to make their dreams a reality.

Vision Statement:

To offer an opportunity for disadvantaged youth and/or young adults to engage in a structured program to learn various trades in an effort to make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.

WHERE WE ARE LOCATED

Porter's Academy is based in Portsmouth, VA.

All programs are taught in a hybrid environment. Students will have a combination of online classes along with onsite hands-on instruction.

WHY WE PROMOTE ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Porter's Academy believes that there is a major opportunity for individuals who have successfully learned a skilled trade to start their own business as a career pathway.

Our programs include on-the-job training, mentorship, business soft skills and entrepreneurial guidance. Our programs are designed to not not only help small businesses grow but to help create more small businesses.
